Nature video/photos of the day: icy creek in December.
cold rush hush be gone always in a hurry too fast and you are gone never here never there only for a second hanging on by a drop of water flow fast d r i p s l o w where it stops nobody knows only the burble goes on and on - Cheryl M.
The snow has long melted, the molehills now too frozen to rake, so that’s where they will stay until the chill goes away.
But down by the creek, beauty is taking hold, as the ice forms on slowly gushing waters, impeded by rocks and branches - obstacles to not only overcome, but to behold.
Down by the creek, droplets of water freeze, standing still for minutes, hours, or days. Their transient lives dependent on their access to sun, or whether they are hidden in the shade.
Every year when this happens, I cannot help but get down into the creek bed and sit for awhile in a place where winter magic transpires. Each year, new crystals emerge, in different forms but with recurring themes.
Take a look at what nature graced the creek with in these past cold days:

That’s all for our daily dose of nature today. It’s time to warm up by the fire with a slice of chocolate cake and a movie. After all, it’s still full-on holiday vibes.
Journal prompt of the day:
What is my relationship with ice?
It may be that you’ve never given much thought to ice before, especially if you live where ice does not naturally form. Yet, you can also think of ice cubes, ice cream, or ice skating.
Ask yourself if you like it or not. If yes, then why? If not, then why not?
Are there ways you could appreciate it more? If so, make a list.
And when you get a chance, be sure to capture an image while it lasts!
With gratitude,
Cheryl
