Finally, it seems that spring has arrived. I'm already starting to tan my face, for a look rather pale at the moment... Today I will spend lots of time in the garden weeding and planting garlic for the year to come. Gratitude for this lovely post, which hit like getting a "Hello spring" card from a friend.

Well, Hello Spring! right back at you! It was a lovely day indeed, planting, raking and spreading pear leaves in the garden ♥

Here in NE PA, in what was formerly the USA, it's still been mostly cold and windy although the sun's rays are warmer. The ground is still frozen and ice is still present on the ground in many places. Most ponds are solidly frozen as it was a much colder than normal winter. I yearn for spring and can't wait to hear the spring peepers peeping.

I remember the long, cold winters of the Midwest, one time walking to a university exam when it was -15°F, only to get there and find out it was cancelled. And ice skating on our backyard pond-rink. Surprisingly, here it doesn't get as cold as I expected it to get in the mountains. Today Csermely and I planted our spring garlic - the soil never even froze this winter. Times are changing, and I'm not sure that's all good. Enjoy your cold for a little while longer!

Sounds like a wondrously cold winter by you. Here winter has been unseasonably warm. I wish I could send some of our crocuses your way!!

Here in Arizona, spring is very brief. It's beautiful and powerful and exhilarating, and we look forward to it, for sure! But where gardeners find disappointment is that their little spring plantings get oppressed by heat and sun as early as May and sometimes April. And a freeze can come and, overnight, wreck everything. Or at least wound them. Today I'm planting beets, earlier than usual. I have Spring fever already!

I'm sure the spring in Arizona is beautiful. I have a small ceramic sun decoration hanging above a window from Tucson, Arizona, and whenever I look at it it makes me want to visit your state! I have spring fever too, can't wait to get out and do something with my hands outdoors.

120 cloves of garlic went in the ground this afternoon for us. It may be a little bit too early for beets, as winter usually isn't over till the end of April (last year we had half a meter of snow on Easter!) but thank you for reminding me to plant them soon. I don't mind sowing seeds "out of season", because you never know what the weather will be. Plus, you can always replant if nothing happens. I would love to experience spring in Arizona one year, I've only seen photos of the act.

Thank you for this, Cheryl. For me, spending a spring day outdoors often means taking time to connect with both the earth and the sky. Whether it’s watching the trees sway or feeling the warmth of the sun peek through the clouds, I find comfort in those small moments. The way you describe nature as a constant presence, a soft companion, is such a beautiful reminder that we’re never truly alone on our journey. There’s always something greater unfolding in the background, waiting for us to notice 🌸

If I've learned anything in the past few years, it has been to pay more attention to what is happening in nature. In the sky - both day and night, in the air and on the ground. The damage that is being done, intentionally and unintentionally, is reversible, at least most of it anyway. Besides stopping the destruction, it's even more helpful to re-sense the beauty of all that is around us. Only in this way can we reclaim our ancestral wildness. Thank you for sharing your lovely thoughts!

It's autumn where I am, and what got me outdoors is my hubby pushing me to go for a walk even though I wasn't feeling well. I'm glad I did! It's always a great idea to go outside 🙂
