If you only have a moment to notice nature, go for a walk in a park.
If you have all the time in the world, take a hike.
Nature photo of the day: beech buds.
buds are budding by the thousands and the millions eager to show those who notice how joyfully spectacular their existence is one by one two by two branch by branch tree by tree leaves and flowers burst forth with a spring symphony those who hear will hear well like the water resonating with ebullience as sunlight grows so do we so do we - Cheryl M.
We’ve been in the city since Thursday morning, it’s now Sunday afternoon. The sounds are different - dogs howling at the cries of sirens and the tintinnabulation of church bells, rather than barking at unseen threats of foxes and other land-loving creatures.
The greater amount of birds are louder too, starting their sing-song well before 5 am, picking up the rhythm again in the evening, all the way until 9 pm. Are they confused by the strong city lights? Or are they simply happy that spring is on the way?

Here in the city, about an hour away from the village, spring is at least two, or three, weeks ahead. I consider ourselves lucky, because we get to experience the budding and the blooming of everything twice - due to our traveling back and forth for Csermely’s Hungarian folk dance classes, and Roland doing his part to make sure that many fruit trees are properly pruned, the grape vines too.
In search for our daily dose of nature we always find ways to spend time outside, even in the city.
In the park this particular beech tree caught my eye. The sunlight shining upon the pointy little buds, the thin, fragile branches in contrast with the deeply textured trunk. What a miracle that a tree like this even exists!
What makes a tree miraculous to you?
As for the journal prompt of the day:
How do I know that spring has truly arrived?
What is it for you that shouts, whispers or simply states “spring is here”?
Is it the appearance of snowdrops or crocuses? Is it the fat magnolia buds just about ready to burst? Is it the significant greening of the grass, or the weeds growing so fast that they are already flowering?
Or does it finally feel like spring then the daffodils are blooming in all their glory? Or is it the song of the robins in the early morning hours that wakes your from your winter slumber?
It could be all these things and more. Be sure to get outside and notice what wants/needs to be noticed. The excitement of spring is upon us, we’re here to share more of it in the weeks to come.
Blessed be,
Thank you for this great post! The first signs of spring to me is the crocuses, the sun shining a little warmer, the other spring flowers popping their leaves and flowers out of the grass, and also the grass turning verdantly green. I've made a few mistakes in my life, but forgetting to enjoy spring is never a problem for me, ifykyk!! Thanks for always reminding me of the wondrousness of the month!!!! With love, Csermely
Little bit different, but I'm noticing the first signs of autumn here and it's interesting to observe, the leaves slowly turning colour, the birds growing a little bit quieter, the days getting shorter...
