Feeling low on inspiration?
Get outside and find something to be grateful for, then let the thoughts flow.
Nature photo of the day: moss on a rock.
forget the elf on the shelf and leave him to his dirty deeds this year what everyone needs more than they know is moss on a rock the kind that grows and greens without roots but with moisture and shade moss which spreads out and away through spore dispersal, insects and small bursts of wind along with a pinch of frag ment a t ion all of which are beyond the magic of a plastic toy for they are as old as time growing everywhere where sunlight shines a touch of green to bring holiday cheer every time you step outside and find a patch of moss sitting on a rock waiting years and years to be seen - Cheryl M.
It’s been an odd week, some might say that the energy has been off… and you can take this any way you like.
Déjà vu moments are happening left and right, as I bend over and lift my head to the sky. I don’t know where they are coming from, and I don’t know why there are so many occurrences at one time, but I’ve read that you are in the right place when you encounter them - as if you have already experienced that present situation, so I’ll keep holding onto the belief that I am always in the right place at the right time for my highest and best good. And my highest and best good is wondrous. That’s my go-to affirmation anyway.
At the same time, I’ve also been in a creative slump, not quite knowing what to do, try or create next given our limited access to new things and/or tools to try before we buy. I’ve thought about pottery, linocut printing, woodblock printing, stained glass, and weaving among other hand crafts, all of which I wouldn’t mind sampling, to see if I like them at all, or whether or not I am any good at them.
And then I think to myself, what a first-world quandary!
So I took a step outside and let the beauty of nature absorb my thoughts for a few moments before my hands began to freeze and my mind could wander. Just long enough to focus on the charming moss on the rock beneath the geraniums (my favorite flowers).
For a few moments all my thoughts about hobbies and desires to be more productive with my time on Earth vanished.
Only to return when I stepped inside my warm home to resume the view of my earthly belongings.
Something to do, something to make, something to create… It’s been on my mind as of late.
If - and when - it’s meant to be, it will be. Can’t wait for a déjà vu about that!
As for the journal prompt of the day:
What was the most inspiring thing I saw or experienced in nature this week?
If you are having a hard time writing down an answer to this, it may be because you didn’t spend enough time outdoors… Or maybe, you are thinking too hard - with your brain instead of your heart.
Take a few moments to mentally review your encounters with nature this week. When you find an image that sticks, write it down. It doesn’t have to be anything big - like seeing a bear for the first time in your life.
It can be as simple as discovering moss on a rock, a flowerless plant that grows on every continent, reaching everywhere in the world without even having roots! How did it accomplish that?!
It’s a question to ponder as we head into a rainy weekend.
With gratitude,
Cheryl
The most inspiring thing I saw in nature this week was the moon shining through the clouds last night. I haven't seen it for days, - maybe even a week - and it was wondrous to get a glimpse of it again after a cloudy day. Today is also pretty dreary... Plenty of time to work online and make bread! I love your poem!!!
It's been an off week for me too! Just tired and not feeling as creative or motivated. I think it's just the end of the year to be honest, in need of a holiday!
