Dripping drops of icy water as we stand barefoot in the snow.

Nature photo of the day: mini icicles glistening in the sun.
what happens today won't happen tomorrow for a moment in time is just that an event or an experience a glimmer of now the current moment which passes as fast as the clouds covering the sun for some it's a race to see how many moments can be captured before they are all gone for others they sit and they wait and they live and they create knowing that curated screenshots tell a story of a life unlike any other on earth - Cheryl M.
Today was a day unlike any other, as most days are.
We woke up early to snow that had blown in from the south overnight. It was crunchy, cold and styrofoam light. As lunchtime approached, the winds changed direction, in the most unfavorable way for our humble, yet very important, chimney.
As the wind blew down, the fire came out, into the kitchen as the potatoes were frying and carrot sauce was simmering on the stove. It’s happened before and it’ll happen again, such is life on the hill at the edge of the valley.
The winds will do what the winds will do, and on the windiest of days it always makes the fire dance. On this occasion, and to our greatest luck, it didn’t last long enough to make us head out in the cold. We only had to endure the smoke for about five minutes with open windows till the series of moments had passed.
After that we ate with hearty appetites.

And just for fun, as well as to keep up our tolerance to the winter cold, we stepped out bravely into the snow with bare feet, letting our soles absorb the crisp, energizing crystals of ice, standing still for a minute until we could feel the chill in our ankles rise.
This is something that we heartily recommend for you too! To step outside barefoot in the snow. For it connects you to the earth in a beautiful way, with excitement and respect on either side of the energy exchange.
All in all, it was a simple day.
A day surrounded by nature, outdoors and in. As winter moves on, the time we spend outdoors is less than before, but never so little as to not step foot out the door. At the same time, we do not count the hours of our time spent outside. Yet, as the Daily Dose of Nature suggests, a little time outdoors each day does wonders for the body and mind.
If you live in a colder climate, how do you manage to spend more time outdoors in the heart of winter? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.
As for the journal prompt of the day:
Does it feel safe for me to walk barefoot in the snow? Yes, or no?
If you have never stepped out into fluffy snow in your bare feet, are you even really living? Well, of course you are! Rather the question should be: do you know what you are missing?
Naturally, there are health benefits to walking barefoot in the snow to discover when you are ready. Think Wim Hof, for starters.
The first step to developing your cold tolerance is to stop wearing shoes and socks all the time, summer is the best time to begin. If you need some guidance with this, we can organize an earthing workshop/walk for you in Breb, Romania.
Or come and join us for a Nature Therapy Workshop and we’ll step out into nature, barefoot together.
Here are our new workshop dates for 2025:
May 24-25
June 28-29
July 26-27
August 23-24
September 27-28
We hope to see one, or two, or more of you this summer!
Snowy greetings,
Cheryl
We make sure to get outside as much as we can in winter, but to be quite honest, it should occur more often that I go outdoors in winter. However, as Chunyi Lin says, good, better, best. That's my plan for this year: is to get outside as often as I can. Especially to learn about nature, grounding while I'm at it. I would love to get outdoors with anyone reading this in Breb if you would like to visit us this summer for a workshop!!!
